Tang Li, an unlucky woman who becomes a widow right after her wedding, transmigrates into a melodramatic tragedy novel as a cannon fodder character. She no longer has to remain a widow, but her most hated vicious mother-in-law has also transmigrated and ends up closely tied to her life again.
At the start, the two are stranded on the streets, arguing constantly, until a system forces them to act like a loving family or be erased. They are forced to cooperate despite their hostility.
One snowy night, they bring home a man covered in blood. He appears to be an amnesiac fool, and their household soon expands to include him, a baby, and heavy debt. Tang Li works to repay the debt through cooking, while the man follows her everywhere, helping her with everything. She treats him as nothing more than a simple-minded laborer.
Unbeknownst to her, the man is Wen Shuyu, who has been reborn. In his previous life, he loved her deeply despite her cruel and unfaithful nature, only to watch her die tragically for another man. Determined to take revenge, he pretends to be foolish and stays by her side, planning to make her fall in love before abandoning her.
However, Tang Li remains indifferent to him, repeatedly misunderstanding his actions. As his plan progresses, his emotions begin to shift, and his carefully controlled revenge gradually slips out of his control.
